The Sophie Germain Scholarship in France 2024/2025 (Fully Funded)

Applications for the Sophie Germain Scholarship program are now open for the academic year 2024/2025. The Sophie Germain program offers excellence scholarships at the master’s level, allowing around fifty students from around the world to enroll in the “Mathematics and Applications” master’s program each year, either in the first year, second year, or for a Ph.D. (after completing their M2). The deadline for applications is January 31, 2024, at 23:59.

The Jacques Hadamard Mathematical Foundation (FMJH) is an institution dedicated to research in mathematics. Its main objective is to promote and support research in mathematics by fostering collaboration among researchers, institutions, and disciplines. It aims to strengthen France’s position as a center of excellence in mathematics on the international stage.

FMJH brings together several partner institutions, including the University of Paris-Saclay and the Polytechnic Institute of Paris. These institutions collaborate to organize research programs, seminars, conferences, and events to stimulate the exchange of ideas and encourage cutting-edge research in mathematics.

Accepted candidates will be placed either at the University of Paris-Saclay or the Polytechnic Institute of Paris.

Amount and Benefits of the Scholarship

The Sophie Germain scholarship amounts to €11,000 net per year. In addition, the program provides a payment of approximately €500 per year for university registration fees. Foreign students may receive an additional flat-rate compensation, capped at €2,000 per year, to cover their travel and visa expenses.

Moreover, first-time foreign students can reserve accommodation (individual studio) and will also receive a welcome kit containing all necessary items, such as quilts, sheets, pots, plates, and cutlery, with an approximate value of €100.

Eligibility Criteria

The selection of candidates for the Sophie Germain scholarship is based on academic criteria supported by transcripts and letters of recommendation. Letters of recommendation are automatically requested from the referees indicated by the candidates upon validation of their application.

How to Apply for the Sophie Germain Scholarship?

To apply for the Sophie Germain scholarship, please follow these steps:

  1. Gather the required documents: carefully prepare all necessary documents for your application, including transcripts, two letters of recommendation, a motivation letter, a curriculum vitae, a copy of the latest university degree, and a copy of your passport or ID.
  2. Fill out the application form: access and complete the application form. Ensure to provide all requested information fully and accurately.
  3. Apply for an eligible master’s program: Concurrently, apply on the application platform of the University of Paris-Saclay or the Polytechnic Institute of Paris. Once you receive admission confirmation, create an account on the Études en France portal and complete your file from the “I am accepted” tab.

Winners receive results by email approximately five weeks after the application deadline.

  1. if bachelor degree certificate pending due to convocation ceremony late. that’s case am use only transcript place of bachelor degree certificate.
