This prestigious program supports talented young Africans pursuing master’s degrees at ASU through a hybrid learning model—online coursework combined with in-person academic and community support at Kepler College in Rwanda. ASU is offering 40 fully funded scholarships for the 2026–2028 academic cycle.
Scholarship Coverage and Benefits
Through a partnership between the Mastercard Foundation and Arizona State University, 40 graduate-level opportunities are available. Each scholarship provides full financial support, including:

- Accommodation: full housing in Rwanda
- Administrative fees: visa costs, English test (TOEFL/IELTS), and application fees
- Transportation: round-trip flight to Kigali, Rwanda

- Professional internship: two-month placement between the first and second year, aligned with your field of study
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must:
- Meet ASU’s admission requirements
- Be an African citizen aged 18–33
- Demonstrate ethical leadership and community engagement
- Show a proven record of leadership, service, and academic excellence
- Hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) obtained before July 2026
- Not have started or completed a master’s degree previously
- Be willing to reside in Rwanda for the full two-year duration of the program
Eligible Study Programs
The Mastercard Foundation scholarships at Arizona State University are available for five master’s programs focused on innovation and technology:
- Master’s in Global Technology and Development – Understanding the impact of technology on development
- Master’s in Sustainable Engineering – Innovative solutions to environmental challenges
- Master’s in Information Technology – Expertise in systems, software, and networks
- Master’s in Business Analytics – Data analytics and business intelligence
- Master’s in Learning Design and Technologies – Educational innovation and EdTech
