Applications for the NL-High Potential Scholarship at Maastricht University are now open for the 2026/2027 academic year. This prestigious program, jointly funded by Maastricht University and the Dutch government, aims to attract the most talented international students from outside the EU/EEA who wish to pursue a Master’s degree at Maastricht University. The initiative offers 21 fully funded scholarships for full-time Master’s programs associated with Maastricht University.
The total value of the Maastricht University scholarship is approximately €15,925 for a one-year (13-month) Master’s program and €30,625 for a two-year (25-month) program, according to the official funding structure.

- Pre-academic training fees
- Participation in the International Student Ambassador Program (ISAP)
Duration of the Scholarship
The duration of the Maastricht University Scholarship depends on the length of the chosen Master’s program. For one-year Master’s programs, the scholarship covers 13 months. For two-year programs, it extends to 25 months.

Eligibility Criteria
All applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a citizen of a country outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, or Suriname, and meet the conditions for obtaining a Dutch entry visa and residence permit.
- Not hold dual citizenship with an EU/EEA country or Switzerland.
- Meet the specific admission requirements of the Master’s program applied for at UM.
- Not have completed a degree-level program in the Netherlands.
- Be under the age of 35 on September 1, 2026.
- Have excellent academic results in previous studies.
- Be committed to serving as an active ambassador for the UM NL-High Potential Scholarship during and after their studies.
Preference will be given to candidates who have not yet earned a Master’s degree.
Maastricht University Scholarship Application Procedure
The application process for the Maastricht University Scholarship consists of two main steps:
- First, applicants must apply for admission to an eligible Master’s program at Maastricht University via Studielink. This step is essential, as the scholarship is only awarded to students admitted to a participating program.
- Once the Master’s application has been submitted, candidates should proceed to the second step—completing the UM Scholarship Application Form. Applicants must log into their UM account and carefully complete the online form, which allows the selection committee to evaluate their academic profile, motivation, and potential for the Holland High Potential Scholarship.
