Applications for the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master MAPP Scholarships are now open for the 2025/2026 academic year.
Offered by a consortium of four universities in the Netherlands, Spain, Austria, and the United Kingdom, the MUNDUS MAPP program aims to fund 21 students of all nationalities to pursue a two-year Master’s degree in the field of public policies. The scholarship provides €1,400 per month for two years. The application deadline is February 4, 2025.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: EMJM MAPP
The overarching goal of the Erasmus Mundus Master’s Program in Public Policies (MAPP) is to equip future academic and political leaders with practical training across the public, private, and non-profit sectors. The program offers an in-depth and systematic understanding of the functioning and interactions of political institutions, processes, and public policies, ranging from global political economy to national and local levels, with a direct focus on European engagements within these governance tiers.
Since its inception in 2007, 408 students from 80 countries across 5 continents have participated in the Mundus MAPP program. The curriculum includes internships at leading international organizations, government agencies, and global NGOs, study trips to explore the practical world of policy-making, as well as policy laboratories.
AVAILABLE TRACKS
EMJM MAPPoffers four distinct tracks:
- Global Public Policy (CEU-IBEI).
- European Public Policy (CEU-YORK).
- Political Economy and Development (ISS-IBEI).
- Governance and Development (ISS-YORK).
EMJM MAPP PROGRAM MOBILITY
The Erasmus Mundus MAPP program offers the following mobility structure:
- Students in the Global Public Policy track will study at the Central European University (Private University) in Vienna, Austria during their first year, and then continue their studies at the Institute Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals in Spain during their second year.
- Students in the European Public Policy track will begin at the Central European University (Private University) in Vienna, Austria in their first year, followed by studies at the University of York in the United Kingdom in their second year.
- Students in the Political Economy and Development track will spend their first year at the Institute of Social Studies in the Netherlands, and then proceed to the Institute Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals in Spain for their second year.
- Students in the Governance and Development track will study at the Institute of Social Studies in the Netherlands during their first year, followed by the University of York in the United Kingdom in their second year.
CONSORTIUM MEMBERSHIP
EMJM MAPP is a two-year Master’s program offered by the following universities:
- Central European University (CEU) Vienna, Austria.
- Institute Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI) Spain.
- International Institute of Social Studies, Erasmus University Rotterdam (ISS) The Hague, Netherlands.
- University of York, United Kingdom.

ERASMUS MUNDUS MAPP SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT
The consortium offers Erasmus Mundus EMJM Scholarships valued at €1,400 per month for two years, totaling €33,600.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The Mundus MAPP Master’s program is open to students holding a diploma (Bachelor’s degree) equivalent to 180 ECTS credits from the European system, after completing at least three years of studies in a field related to social sciences or equivalent.
Applicants must also demonstrate proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
APPLICATION FOR ERASMUS MUNDUS MAPP SCHOLARSHIPS
Candidates wishing to apply for the MAPP Master’s program must register via https://sits.ceu.edu/ and complete the online form by entering their personal information and uploading the required documents. The deadline to finalize your application is February 4, 2025.
The application process is entirely digitalized, eliminating the need to send paper copies of your application documents.
Applicants must provide the following documents when applying:
- Copy of your Bachelor’s degree (translated into English).
- Copy of your transcripts (translated into English).
- Two letters of recommendation.
- English proficiency certificate, if applicable.
All documents must be in English.
