Applications for the Eiffel Scholarship program of the French government are now open for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The Eiffel Scholarship program, initiated by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, aims to attract the best international talents to French higher education institutions. Scholarships are offered for Master’s or Doctoral studies in priority fields such as engineering sciences, political science, law, economics, and more. The program is designed to train future global decision-makers by offering them a unique opportunity to study in France.
Eiffel Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
Candidates for the France Excellence Eiffel scholarships must be under 27 years old to apply for a Master’s and under 32 years old for a Doctorate. Only foreign nationals (not holding French nationality) are eligible, and individuals with dual nationality, including French citizenship, cannot apply.
Applicants for the Master’s level must hold a Bachelor’s degree, while those applying for Master 2 (M2) must have a Master 1 (M1) or an engineering degree. Doctoral candidates must already hold a Master’s degree.
In addition to these academic requirements, candidates must demonstrate excellent academic performance throughout their studies. The Eiffel Scholarship is a merit-based award, and only students with outstanding academic potential are selected for this prestigious scholarship.
Eiffel Scholarship Amount and Duration
Recipients receive a monthly stipend of 1,181 EUR for the Master’s level and 1,800 EUR for the Doctoral level. They also benefit from French social security coverage, additional health insurance, and coverage of national and international travel expenses, as well as housing costs. Cultural activities and outings are also offered to help students explore France and Europe.
Mandatory internships and international exchanges, as part of the academic program, are covered by the scholarship. However, optional internships are not funded, and the scholarship payments are temporarily suspended during these periods.
The Eiffel Scholarship is awarded for a maximum of 12 months for a Master 2, 24 months for a Master 1, and 36 months for an engineering cycle. For Doctoral studies, the duration varies from 6 to 36 months.
How to Apply for the Eiffel Scholarship
Applicants must first contact French universities to learn about their specific application procedures. Applications are submitted by the French universities, not directly by the students. After an initial local selection, successful applications are forwarded to Campus France for national selection.
Key Dates
The application period for the 2025 Eiffel Scholarships is open from October 1, 2024, to January 8, 2025. Results will be announced during the first week of April 2025.
